For our work, we have developed a user interface that allows the public to navigate within specific virtual journies. GeoExhibit is built upon our GeoZui3D geographic visualization system, which uses center of workspace interaction as a unifying concept.
An example of the visitors point of view is shown in the figure below. In this scene are 3D images, labels, the multibeam sonar mapping of the Piscataqua River (the bathymetry), a corresponding legend showing the depth of the river at various locations (lower left), and an avatar dive sled. The visitors to this exhibit can take a journey up the Piscataqua River, visit an aquaculture site near the Isles of Shoals, or travel to George's Bank.
